Subject: Weekend activities for Fethard Juvenile Gaa Club

A busy programme for the young blues of Fethard this weekend.

Our u6s continue their training under commander in chief Paul Hayes and his merry men Stephen Gleeson, Donal Tobin and Fran Tyrell at 10am in the Barrack field. It’s great to see the numbers growing by the week and all new boys are welcome.

The u8 team are heading to Rockwell for their first football blitz of the year with high hopes after their pre season work under the guidance of Sean Og Ryan and Ollie Woodlock. Throw in at Rockwell is at10am. Best of luck to all.

The U10 team have been preparing nicely and with a very successful blitz in Dr Morris park last weekend head to Clonmel on Saturday morning to play Clonmel Og in a hurling and football challenge. This large panel of boys has been training regularly under Sean Kiely, Tom Keane, Jimmy Smith, Colin Allen, Paul Ryan and Noreen Shehy and the early signs are that this group is destined for great things……no pressure lads…. The panel is asked to be in Clonmel Ogs ground on the by pass Clonmel for 10.15am and throw in at 10.30am .Best of luck to all.

Pride of place this week end goes to our u12 team who following a very successful campaign topping their group find themselves in the South U12B Football Semi Final vs Ballingarry in Monroe at 12 noon on Sunday 24th of April. A game not to be missed, Ballingarry known for their hurling are not to be taken for granted and we know the management team of Michael Quinlan, Jimmy O Meara , Fiona Spillane, Johnny Neville and John O Flynn have been drilling this talented bunch for the last number of months and won’t be found wanting on Sunday. The U12D team following a superb victory over a strong Moyle Rovers team last week end lost out on a place in the semi final on score difference but put in as much effort as any of the others. I would like to express my appreciation to the Ladies Football Club and parents of the girls who took part in the U12 championship without your co operation we would have not been able to field a second team.

The u14 footballers continued in the championship on Thursday evening and recorded a victory against near neighbours Kilenaule on a score line of 7.10 to 3.07 . Well done to all involved and our next game is at home to Carrick Swan on Thursday which is critical to remaining in this years championship.

The u16 have a break this week from games and continue their preparations for their home game on Monday the 2nd of May against Kilenaule. The boys have been putting in a good effort but not getting the rewards to date .

New Fethard Juvenile Club Secretary.

I would like to congratulate Deirdre  McEvoy on becoming the new secretary of the Fethard Juvenile Gaa Club. After a very thorough recruitment campaign Deirdre emerged head and shoulders over the other candidates…….As Chairman of the Fethard Juvenile Gaa Club I wish Deirdre every success in this important position and I know she will continue the long history of excellent secretaries that have gone before her .

Feile 2016.

We will be hosting the Aodh Ruadh club from Ballyshannon, Co Donegal in this years Feile u14 hurling tournament commencing the 17th of June. I would like to thank Michael Moroney for his excellent work to date on this project which to many is one week end in June but the work that goes in behind the scenes to get to this weekend is enormous so thanks again to Michael.

That’s if for this week I would ask anyone who is out and about at any of the training , games etc to take a few snaps ,no excuses anymore everyone has a camera on their phone and send the pics to Andy  O’ Donovan atprofethardgaa@gmail.com and let’s promote the very good work that is being done with the young boys and girls of Fethard.

PS St Ritas Camogie Club and Fethard Ladies Football Club are running a cash for clobber weekend this weekend any old clothes , shoes, mobile phones, laptops etc drop them into the main field Fethard between 7pm and 8 pm on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd between 10am and 11.30am.
