PRESS RELEASE John West Féile na nGael LAUNCH NIGHT
The John West Féile na nGael takes place from 17th to 19th June and is being hosted between Tipperary and Waterford. This national tournament is an annual festival encompassing Hurling, Camogie and Handball at U14 level. It is a fantastic honour to host this auspicious event and welcome participants and their families from all over Ireland and beyond. The ethos of Féile is to ensure that all players are given the opportunity to partipate and play in their respective Féile tournaments. Clubs gain the experience of playing teams from other counties and also to foster links and friendships with these clubs. Féile weekend will see the host clubs in both Tipperary and Waterford welcome hundreds of people to their area’s and to promote and show our facilities and localities to a wide audience. The National Launch of John West Féile na nGael will take place on Thursday 21st April at 7.00pm in Ballymacarbry Community Centre, Ballymacarbry nestled in the Nire Valley on the Waterford / Tipperary border. This night of music, dance and celebration will showcase local talents from the national schools of Newcastle, Co. Tipperary and Ballymacarbry, Co. Waterford as well as other local dignitaries. U15 South Tipperary Hurling Roger Ryan success for Fethards Stephen Crotty.
Congratulations to our own Stephen Crotty for his part in last weekends success in the Roger Ryan inter divisional tournament played in testing conditions in Toomevara. South Tipp were crowned champions after victories over Mid and West Tipp and a draw versus North Tipp, well done to Stephen and continued success into the future. Mick O Mahony Chairman Fethard Juvenile Club

U14 Football
“After over a month of training sessions and challenge games, the u14 footballers finally got their season underway on Thursday 9th April with a home championship fixture versus Kilsheelan-Kilcash. Captained by Darragh Hurley, and despite playing some good football, they went down to defeat. This being only the first round of the group games, the team can still look forward to their remaining three games with lots of optimism.
The following Saturday (the 11th), the team traveled to Ardfinnan to take on the home side in the quarter-final of the South Peil na nOg. The boys had an excellent win against a strong Ardfinnan team on a scoreline of 1-6 to 1-3 and now move into the semi-final to be played on Sunday 19th.
The Feile na nOg u14 club hurling tournament takes place in Tipperary and Waterford over the weekend of 17-19 June. This is a huge undertaking by the two host counties, with in excess of 5,000 players taking part and 450 games being played over the course of the weekend. Fethard’s u14 hurling squad will be hosting in their homes a team from Ireland’s north-west, Aodh Ruadh CLG of Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. The club is really looking forward to this and preparations for what will be a great weekend are now in full swing.”
U10’s trip to Dr. Morris Park Friday 15th
“We had a strong turnout for this U10 football blitz with 19 out of a squad of 23 turning out to play. Unfortunately the others were either sick or could not travel for other reasons. We entered 2 teams on the night and all players put in solid performances. We had 100% success rate with both team playing four games & each winning all 4 games. It was a cold night with a strong wind at times but the boys coped well under the conditions.
Thanks to all the players for turning out in such strong numbers and indeed to the parents for travelling and braving the elements.”
