U12 hurling
The u12s had two outings during the past week. On Monday 13/7 the boys put in a huge display and were very unlucky in being defeated by Ballybacon-Grange by one point. On Sunday 19/7 the boys put up a brave performance in being defeated by a strong Kilsheelan side. These lads have 3 games left to play in this championship.

Tuesday 7th July was a historic day for our club, our U-12’s played in Caman to Croker in Croke Park . We had a fantastic day from start to finish. We started the day with a tour of Croke Park museum, the girls thoroughly enjoyed this especially the “sing off” in the auditorium with a cork team where “Tipperary Tipperary are we are we are we” rang throughout the museum and stadium!! We then took to the hallowed turf to play An Port Mor from Armagh, Atticall from Down and finally Blackrock from Cork, 2 wins and a draw. This was a fantastic experience for all the girls and a memory they will have for life. Huge thanks and appreciation to their mentors for their dedication and training throughout the year. Special mention also to Katie Ryan who refereed in Croke Park on the day. Thanks to everyone who supported our cake sale on Sunday last and also to Kenny’s Centra for the water.
Juvenile
Report of our u14 game v Carrick Davins.
After the disappointment of this years u14 football championship behind this bunch of young men we headed to Carrick Davins with all their hurling history to begin our championship campaign. Having lost a couple to injury and sun spots throughout Europe a determined 13 lined out and were up for the challenge. Fethard opened the first half with the wind at their backs and got off to a flyer with Stephen Crotty raising a green flag within three minutes followed by a point by Cathal O Mahony from the right wing. Another goal from Stepen Crotty put Fethard in a strong position after 10 minutes. Carrick roared back into the game with 1 02 before Cathal O Mahony pointed again following a well placed pass from Darragh Hurley out of the half back line. With The Fethard boys gaining in confidence and with Ryan Walsh , Ben Coen and Dara Hurley cleaning up at the back and their distribution out of defence leeding to further scores up front . Indicipline in the Davins back line handed Stephen Crotty 3 handy pointed frees to extend Fethards lead . Again the home team responded with another 1 02 to leave a point between the sides approaching half time. Richard Anglim and Robert Hackett were having a very good first half and a one two between the pair led to a free on the 40. Stephen Crotty stepped up and sent a great shot to the roof of the net to give Fethard a five point lead at the break.
Halt Time Carrick Davins 2.04 Fethard 3.06
Fethard started the second half as they finished the first and added three points in the first five minutes with Stephen Crotty on fire in the half forward line. Robert Hackett added another point and another free from Crotty was followed by another post splitting point by the energetic Hackett in the middle of the field. Again the Davins came fighting back . A free went straight to the Fethard net after 15 mins followed by three more points and left five between the sides . The momentum was with the home team and playing with a strong wind there was more trouble ahead for the Fethard boys. Another Davins attack produced a superb save from Keenan Ahearne in the Fethard goals. Matthew Burke made another important block a minute later and from the resultant 65 the Davins were back to within four points of the visitors. With eight minutes left and the game in the balance Fethard found an extra gear and finished very strong with goals from Stephen Crotty and Cathal O Mahony, two points from the hard working Micheal Quinlan and another from Richard Anglim and Robert Hackett leaving the final score Carrick Davins 4 .08 Fethard 6 .14. This was a great team performance ,Keenan Ahearne was very steady between the goals , Shane Neville the ice man at the back didn’t put a foot wrong and was assisted along the way by Matthew Burke in the full back line. Darragh Hurley, Ben Coen and Ryan Walsh were dominant throughout the 60 minutes on the half back line. Robert Hackett and Captain Richy Anglim led the charge and picked off a few nice points along the way. Stephen Crotty was excellent throughout and his scores from frees and play were a feature of the game he was helped on the half forward line by Cathal O Mahony who chipped in with 1 .02 for the cause. The inside line of Cathal Ryan , Micheal Quinlan and Conor (im only 10 )Neville worked tirelessly throughout the hour causing mayhem in and around the Davins square. A pleasing aspect of the game from a Fethard point of view was the teamwork and use of the ball throughout the game. The boys showed a great will to win and hopefully a long successful summer lies ahead . Mick O Mahony.

t will be held on the evening of next Thursday, July 16th for u10 hurling. 4 teams, Fethard, Mullinahone, St. Pat’s and Boherlahan.
Fethard Ladies Football,
COMMUNITY GAMES MUNSTER FINALS;
Our U-14 Community games team made their way to UL last Saturday to compete in the Munster Finals. We played Limerick champs Bruff in the S/F and the girls did not disappoint as the played some of their best football of the year in this game. We blitzed our opponents early on racing into a 1-4 to 0-0 lead in the opening quarter. Bruff came back quickly in the next period scoring 1-1 of their own. The Fethard girls now raced through the gears as they starved their opponents of… the ball pressing their running and passing game on their rivals. The girls were now scoring from all over the field and ran out winners by a 12 point margin and had reached the Munster Final.
We now faced Kerry champs Killorglin in the final after they had overcome Clare opposition in the other semi. The Fethard girls looked to bring the momentum of the fantastic semi final victory with them into the final where they faced a very physical Kerry side.
The final was an end to end affair with both sides playing some excellent football but it was the Fethard girls unfaltering work ethic and never say die attitude which stood out above all else. Every time when Kerry looked to pull away the Fethard girls came back with some outstanding scores. Sadly despite the herculean efforts and sheer guts of the girls in blue luck was not on our side as the cross bar came to kerrys rescue on no less than 4 occasions, this coupled with a few injuries and it wasn’t going to be our day as we lost out by 7 points in the end claiming a silver medal.
The girls are a credit to their club and parish and you cant emphasise enough the effort that was put in in Ul over the 2 games.Well done girls
Also we wish Nell Spillane a quick recovery, Nell fractured her arm while playing in the semi final and lets hope shes back playing soon.

Many Hands make light Work
With the upcoming senior hurling game scheduled for Sunday 28th it was decided to get together to tidy up the surrounding areas of the field of rough grass and ivy. On Tuesday a strong group of volunteers turned up, armed with strimmers, lawn mowers, tractor and trailers to do a great job behind the seating areas, cutting back high grass and taking away the ivy that came off the walls.
“Thanks to everybody who turned up tonight to help with the clean up of the field it was a great turnout and a lot of work done, I would like to say it’s a credit to all who took part and the field looked a picture when leaving.
I would also like to congratulate the Fethard U14 girls on there great win over the weekend in the county final and to all others involved well done ,”

Ladies Football
U-14 girls:
Congrats to our U-14 girls who made it through to the county B football final after overcoming a dogged Slievenamon in their semi final replay Monday night. Fethard started the quicker racing into a 1-3 to 0-1 lead after 10 minutes. The reminder of the half however was dominated by their opponents who scored 2-2 without reply to lead 2-3 to 1-3 at half time. The second half was to prove a different story as Fethard soaked up the pressure with the keeper and defence snuffing out every attack and the midfield and forwards marauding upfield, the girls were to outscore their opponents by 3-4 to 0-3. Ladies Football
Fethard U-12 girls(Blue team) played their first game gainst Commercials last week and had a good win on a scoreline of 4-08 to 1-09. Fethard started well and led 1-05 to 0-2 at half time thanks to a fine goal from Nicole Delaney. However the second half was a different story as Commercials took control and scored 1-05 with out reply to lead by 0-2. Having traded further points Fethard came again and 3 late goals from Niamh Hayes ensured victory. Well done all involved.
Our U-12 White team playd their first game last week also against Mullinahone and were unlucky to go down 2-02 to 1-0 with the goal coming from Anna Prendergast. The girls should take great heart from this game despite the scoreline as all these girls are under age again next year so a bright future lays ahead for this bunch of girls. Next opponents will be St Pats this friday.
Our U-14 girls representing the parish created another piece of history on bank holiday Monday as they became the inaugural winners of the Community games county U-14 girls football competition. Played at Semple Stadium in awful weather conditions the Fethard girls were bidding to keep our winning streak in community games going as this was the 3rd year in a row we were contesting a football final having previously won the last 2 U-12 finals. Cahir were the opponents on this…occasion and having met in the county championship this was always going to be a close encounter. With the rules changed for the community games format (11 aside, only 1 hop 1 solo and 4 10 minute periods rather than the conventional 2 halves) Fethard were fastest to adapt moving the ball quickly into the forwards who were marauding the wide open spaces of Semple Stadium. Scores were always hard to come by and for all our dominance we led by the only solitary point scored in the first quarter. The second quarter was much the same with neither team scoring and back lines holding firm. It was the 3rd quarter when the game came alive, Fethard now coping with the deteriorating conditions better and with the midfield and forwards combining to great effect we scored 1-2. The backs were now in command and any attack that did breach their lines was dealt with by some safe hands by the keeper. The 4 th quarter saw Cahir mount a series of attacks but the back line were imperious, with their handling of the ball in such conditions even more impressive. The midfield provided the spring board for some great counter attacking football and when a rare scoring opportunity did arise the forwards were deadly tagging on another 2 points. Final score Fethard 1-5 Cahir 0-0.

Captain Rachel Prout accepted the shield on behalf of her team and we now await the draw for the Munster finals. Special Thanks to Sophie Delaney and Ellie Devaney , Peggy Colville for her help and to Sparkie for the ritual refreshments, Well done all.
